IMPORTANT RRSP POINTS
"Annuitant"
The annuitant is the owner of the RRSP.
"Contributor"
The contributor is the person who contributes to the plan and claims a deduction on their tax return.
"Non-Spousal RRSP"
In a non-spousal RRSP the annuitant and contributor are the same person.
"Spousal RRSP"
In a spousal or common-law partner RRSP the annuitant spouse is the contributor.
When purchasing a Non-Spousal or Spousal RRSP, it is very important to understand this distinction. In either case, the "RSP Application" must be completed by the annuitant.
"RSP Beneficiaries"
If you would like to designate a beneficiary on your RRSP or make changes to an existing beneficiary, you must attend a branch.
